Why Try … Hard Cider?

Something Old is Deliciously New Again!

This industry in the US has exploded in the last few years. I always saw it as a beginner adult beverage. For someone that wanted something so sweet that they couldn’t taste the alcohol. This is no longer the case.
Cideries are becoming more and more like wineries. Cideries are priding themselves on using only the finest apples and highest quality ingredients. They are more balanced and flavorful now. Much like wineries there are different varieties of apples that make different types of cider.
Ace, the oldest cidery on the West Coast, doesn’t add any sugar to their ciders. This makes them much lower in calories than other alcoholic beverages. Ace, Jester and Judge, and South City Ciderworks are three great West Coast cideries that have a wide variety of flavorful ciders. (Our CKJY Exports team proudly represents them in South Korea, India, Vietnam, Japan, Taiwan and potentially more countries abroad.)

Todd’s “Try It – You’ll Love It” Recommendations –

1 – Beverage Formerly Known as “Ho Ho Hope”

The beverage formerly known as “Ho Ho Hope” by South City Ciderworks is an appealing blend of allspice, dried orange peel, nutmeg and cinnamon perfect for this crisp time of year.

In the words of the South City Ciderworks website – The Cider Formerly Known at Ho Ho Hope this Isn’t Offensive

Available: October through December

And yes, we’re still working out a better name for this one… With a blend of allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and dried orange peel, this special harvest cider brings together all the lovely flavors of fall. Still on the dry side, the infusion of all these ingredients creates a mulled cider treat which is both bold and approachable.

2 – Sharp Cherry by Jester & Judge

Jester and Judge from Washington has a Sharp Cherry that is “out of this world” good and would be great to have on the table for the Thanksgiving day feast.
Jester and Judge says “We challenged ourselves to make a cherry cider that was neither pruney nor medicinal. The result is our Sharp Cherry cider, an enthusiastic mosh pit of apples and wild cherries.” You will love the taste! We do.

3 – Ace’s Pineapple

Ace’s Pineapple will make you want put an umbrella in the bottle and take a trip to a beach far far away.

Ace Cider‘s website shares that theirs is the first pineapple cider every created! Cool, right?  It was “Inspired by the House Family’s annual visit to the beautiful Hawaiian Islands our Pineapple cider is an ideal drink for tropical hot and humid climates. Our signature drink the Hawaii 5-0 is a mix of Ace Pineapple cider, coconut rum, ice and a garnish of fresh pineapple. This original cider is perfect for a backyard BBQ, or Bacon dishes.”

Did I mention it’s GLUTEN FREE?! Ciders are perfect for anyone that has celiac disease or is just trying to keep gluten out of their diet.

So as you can see there are quite a few reasons to give it a try or a revisit. They have become extremely popular in the USA for multiple reasons. So get out there and grab a pint. I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

Cheers!
