We’ve all heard of Valentines day, where couples celebrate their love for each. But when do you celebrate you girl friends that are there for you always? Now, you can show how much you love & appreciate your girlfriends on Galentines Day, February 13th.
Galentines is a day to celebrate all your close girl friends! Once a fictional, funny girl power holiday in the terrifically funny sitcom Parks & Rec is now a true bonafide holiday.
How better to explain it than in the woman herself words, “Every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas!” says Leslie Knope.
Sometimes … life imitates art! Amy Poeler’s character created this holiday in the sitcom. Now, it is celebrated by girlfriends annually. (Galentine’s Day: How a Beloved Fiction Became a Beloved Tradition shared by The Atlantic.)

White Wine Recommendations for GALentine’s Day –
Sauvignon Blanc – This fruit-forward wine shows great intensity as it is poured into the glass, with hints of grapefruit, pear, honeysuckle, and citrus blossoms to name a few. A little sur lies aging adds a little weight to the mid-palate without sacrificing the refreshing crispness form entry to long, lingering finish. Added flavors of honeydew melon and mineral notes are evident on the palate.
Riesling – “Off dry and fruit forward with a beautifully balanced acidity. Hints of white peach and honeydew melon with brief notes of clover honey and citrus.
Our 2015 Riesling presents ripe white peach and honeydew melon aromas. Off dry, silky and slightly tropical, this is a wonderful, satiny display of the Columbia Gorge terrior. It has excellent acidity and as a result, is a terrific food wine. In fact, Riesling is the most versatile of food wines and pairs superbly with a wide array of dishes from spicy to sweet. Try it with our Gina’s Spicy Chili-Ginger BBQ Shrimp Skewers for which a recipe card is provided with every purchase.”
Definitely a white wine that is worthy of sharing with your girlfriends!

Pinot Noir – From the Eola Hills Winery website – “Given the easy hand on the Oak regime, the intensity of this vintage of Pinot noir is incredible. The high percentage component of Eola-Amity Hills fruit out of Oregon’s Willamette Valley gives an earthy and dark fruit character that’s intense, but not heavy on the palate.”

Cherry and cocoa aromas, along with plums, cherries, blueberries, blackberries, and black pepper spice notes on the palate define this satisfying wine. it’s light to medium bodied with a toasted almond finish.
