Our CKJY Exports Inc. team is working to maximize what we can do for both our import customers and the product producers we represent abroad. There are many ways we can do that by putting in long hours and providing excellent service, of course.
However, with a bit of research and effort we can maximize the impact of money spent by utilizing existing U.S. government programs designed to grow American export opportunities. This new approval is another improvement in the services we are able to offer.
What does Approval for the Export Credit Guarantee Program mean?
This means that working with CKJY Exports Inc. is more secure because we can guarantee that payments will be made when we follow the export credit guarantee program guidelines.
As our letter from the Deputy Director of the Credit Programs Division states, this is not an endorsement of our company; however, it opens the door for our company to participate in this worthwhile program.
Truly, this is one more positive step in building our company’s ability and strength as exporting partners. Our CKJY Exports Team continually strives to grow our business and this is another step on the path of doing that.
USDA Foreign Agricultural Service –
Export Credit Guarantee Program (GSM-102)
The GSM-102 program provides credit guarantees to encourage financing of commercial exports of U.S. agricultural products. By reducing financial risk to lenders, credit guarantees encourage exports to buyers in countries — mainly developing countries — that have sufficient financial strength to have foreign exchange available for scheduled payments.USDA Foreign Agriculture Service – Export Guarantee Program
In order to participate, a company must be vetted and approved for the program before participating in it. This is the approval that CKJY Exports Inc. recently was granted.
CCC must qualify exporters for participation before accepting guarantee applications. Financial institutions must meet established criteria and be approved by CCC. CCC sets limits and advises each approved foreign financial institution on the maximum amount CCC will guarantee for that bank. Requirements for exporter and U.S. and foreign financial institution participation are available in the program regulation and on the FAS website.
Once approved to participate, the exporter negotiates terms of the export sale with the importer. Once a firm export sale exists, the qualified U.S. exporter must apply for a payment guarantee before the date of export. The exporter pays a fee calculated on the dollar amount guaranteed. Fee rates are currently based on the country risk that CCC is undertaking, including country-specific macroeconomic variables; risk of the foreign obligor (bank); the repayment term (tenor); and repayment frequency under the guarantee.USDA Foreign Agriculture Service – Export Guarantee Program
Other Programs CKJY Exports Inc. Works With to Maximize Opportunities for Those We Work With …
CKJY Exports Proudly Participates in WUSATA’s Programs
The Western United States Agricultural Trade Association or WUSATA sponsors many programs that benefit agricultural based businesses. As the representative of over 30 wineries, breweries, cideries and distilleries, CKJY Exports Inc. participates in their programs to grow the markets for these family run businesses that we represent.
As the WUSATA website says their dedicated team works to increase United States exports by connecting agribusinesses to the world. Meeting the rising global demand for U.S. exports of high-quality food and agricultural products is their collective goal. Truly it has been a pleasure for us to get to know these wonderful folks over the past few years as we have participated in many of their trade missions both domestically and abroad.
Utilizing the Knowledge of our U.S. Commercial Service
International Trade Specialist, Ms. Bernadette Rojas, has been extremely insightful and helpful for our CKJY Exports Inc. team! Her expertise with vetting potential clients and advising us regarding export procedures have been invaluable to us over the last couple of years.
She has welcomed us to programs offered by her Fresno office and worked with us on a one on one basis as well. Bernadette’s dedication to helping U.S. exporters is impressive. Happily we continue to consult with her regarding upcoming sales and shipments.
U.S. Small Business Administration
The U.S. Small Business Administration offers a wealth of information and programs for small businesses like ours. We have participated in several of their programs and researched many things through their online resources.
Women Run Small Business Certification
Last summer, CKJY Exports Inc. was awarded the designation of being a Women Run Small Business. While we did pursue this, we are honored to have been awarded it and are working to maintain our certification through their annual renewal procedures.
This certification provides a level playing field for women business owners, the government limits competition for certain contracts to businesses that participate in the women’s contracting program. Each year the U.S. Federal Government’s contracting goal is to have 5% of all federal contracts awarded to Women Run Businesses. These contracts are for industries where women-owned small businesses (WOSB) are underrepresented.
Working Toward Future Opportunities …
One of the reasons our team has worked to become certified as a Women Run Business through the SBA certification process is that it will aid us in the U.S. government’s System for Award Management listing.
By being listed as a Women Run Business, it will make our offerings more attractive to U.S. military bases and embassies as we complete our qualifications toward this goal.
It is easy to see that if there is a helpful government offered resource that can aid our clients or the companies we represent, our CKJY Exports team maximizes those resources as we grow all our businesses together. This is one of the things we will always do to provide the best care along with the best wine, craft beer, ciders, whiskeys and distilled spirits.
